The Multicultural School of Townsville

We are proudly known as the Multicultural School of Townsville, with over 30 nations represented across our College community. This rich diversity is something we celebrate and honour, recognising the unique cultures, traditions and stories that shape who we are.

College Celebration Days

Through Celebration Days held in both our Primary and Secondary College, students have the opportunity to engage with, share and appreciate the many cultures that make up our College community and who we are. We love celebrating one another’s cultures, recognising that each story, tradition and background enriches our College. Students are encouraged to bring a dish that represents their culture to share with their class, creating meaningful opportunities for connection through shared experiences. These Celebration Days are also held as a free dress day, with students invited to wear cultural attire, either their own or representing another culture, and make a gold coin donation. All funds raised support our sister schools, Helping Hands in India and 100% Hope in Africa.

These days are a meaningful expression of our commitment to fostering unity, belonging and connection. As a College, we value and promote a culture of honour and respect, believing that embracing and celebrating our diversity brings us closer together and strengthens our community as we learn, grow and thrive as one.

NAIDOC Week

As a College, we recognise and celebrate NAIDOC Week each year, providing meaningful opportunities for students to learn about, honour and respect the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our NAIDOC Week celebrations include hands-on cultural experiences such as tasting traditional foods, watching and engaging in traditional song and dance workshops, participating in traditional weaving lessons, and exploring the use of traditional instruments. Through live performances and interactive activities, students are invited to actively engage with culture, deepen their understanding, and develop a greater appreciation for the rich heritage of Australia’s First Nations peoples.
